Mom anger is a very real and common issue that does not happen over night ladies. I mean , seriously ? You were not angry at your children when they were born right?! Mom anger is something that is developed and is often a result of parental burnout.
Burnout occurs when someone has been laboring for an extended period of time with out respite . Yeap! That is the definition of motherhood is it not it friends?
As a result of our labor we procrastinate on self care and we become cranky and tired.
This is the vicious cycle that leads to a mom becoming a MOMSTER.
So, how can self-care relieve Mom anger?
- SELF-CARE WILL RESTORE YOU MINDSET
- SELF-CARE IS A STRESS RELIEF
- SELF-CARE CULTIVATES JOY
- SELF-CARE GIVES YOU AN ADDED MEASURE OF PATIENCE TO DEAL WITH PETTY THINGS YOUR KIDS MAY DO
- SELF-CARE WILL HELP YOU TO MANAGE YOUR EMOTIONS
Here are some practical steps to take in dealing with your Mom anger :
- LEARN TO IDENTIFY YOUR TRIGGER TIMES
- SET A CONSISTENT BEDTIME
- SET SOME ROUTINES IN YOUR LIFE AND HOME
- IDENTIFY WHAT RESTORED YOU AND DO IT!
- AIM FOR ONE ….. JUST ONE SELF CARE ACT PER DAY TO START SOMEWHERE .
Need some examples? Go get a manicure or pedicure and let someone take care of YOU for a change?
Don’t have the cash you say? Then try taking a walk alone! ( get a baby sitter). While walking try meditate on the things you are grateful in life. This produces physical , metal and spiritual self care.
Maybe try to give yourself a morning prayer / meditation time before you get out of bed and deal with your kids.
Some other options include :
-Let the kids go outside and play. You Mama, listen to a podcast or some peaceful music while you watch them play. ( find out Podcast Listed as The RESTORED Mom in your podcast player or on Spotify or google podcast )
- Set a quiet time in your home every day where you and your kids take 30 minutes to reading something you enjoy individually.
- Sit outside in the sun and practice some deep breathing for 5 minutes.
APPLICATION FROM THIS BLOG POST:
- EVALUATE FOR FULL YOUR TANK IS?
- IDENTIFY YOUR TRIGGER TIMES DURING THE DAY WHICH YOU ARE MOST LIKELY TO DEAL WITH MOM ANGER AND PUT BOUNDARIES IN PLACE TO EQUIP YOURSELF FOR THEM ( ex. I am most tired around 2 pm . If I have lunch done early for my children then by 1:30 I can lay the baby down for nap, give my 5 yr old quiet time in his room and have my 8 yr old finishing up her homeschooling while I can lie down for a brief 30 minute rest time . )
Mama friend, Mom anger is the real deal. It can cause scars and wounds that our children will carry for a lifetime. Lets do what ever we can to get this on check, for their sake and ours as well.
Praying for you today friends ;
Raquel
